Video: yacht fire burns Princess superyacht

Footage shows a man battling the blaze from the deck of the boat in the Turkish port of Fethiye.

A yacht fire in the town of Fethiye on Turkey’s southwest coast has claimed a Princess 95 superyacht reportedly worth £4m.

The fire broke out 21 January in the marina of a Turkish resort and the 90-foot Princess 95 yacht, Queen Anna, is thought to be owned by a Russian businessman.

The video shows a small inflatable boat towing the yacht away from the other luxury yachts moored in the marina to prevent the fire from spreading. A crowd of onlookers stands in the rain as the yacht floats clear of the other boats.

A man remains onboard the yacht at the bow as the rest of the vessel becomes engulfed in flame and thick, black smoke.

The dramatic fire is the second major yacht fire that’s been reported in Turkey this month, and follows a fire in Marmaris in early January that damaged the well-known superyachts The One and Barbie.

Princess’ 95 series of superyachts are designed and built in the UK at the yacht builder’s headquarters in Plymouth. As part of an economic restructuring, the boat maker has announced some 350 job cuts and hired a new executive chairman this month.
