The oldest sailing boat in Europe and a legendary racing boat among those to join the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant in June




Organisers of the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant have published a full list of every boat invited to join the event celebrating the Queen’s 60-year reign.

A variety of vessels will form the 1000-strong flotilla ranging from cargo boats, tugs, fireboats, police boats, lifeboats and historic vessels to the Royal Party and the leisure boats which have been placed at the heart of the event.

Among those invited include Boadicea, the oldest sailing boat still afloat in Europe; BlueBird, which was built in 1938 forSir Malcolm Campbell; Bibi, a classic Riva speedboat from the 1960s and a gathering of Dunkirk Little Ships.

“We have a wonderful collection of vessels, a wide spectrum of every type of craft from humble kayaks to magnificent tall ships,” said Adrian Evans, pageant master and director of the Thames Festival.

The flotilla will travel from Putney to Tower Bridge, passing under 14 bridges on the way and taking 90 minutes to pass any given point.

The event is set to become the largest flotilla to be assembled on the river for at least 350 years.
