Young Olympic hopefuls Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield, from Hampshire and Devon respectively, remain the top placed British crew after two days of racing at the 470 European Championships in Turkey. Their win in race two, plus two fourth places in races five and six puts them in a promising sixth place overall in group A with the possibility of repeating, or even bettering, Rogers fifth place overall last year. In the women’s division, 1996 Olympic representative Bethan Raggatt and crew Sarah Webb are nineteenth after four races. The top sixteen crews from group A and eighteen from Group B (both men’s) now go forward to form the gold fleet from which the 1998 470 European Champion will be chosen.
