The Yarmouth RNLI was called in to assist a 105 tonnes trimaran after it suffered power failure
The Yarmouth RNLI Allweather Lifeboat was called out on Thursday 13 October to assist an 88ft, 105 tonnes trimaran after it experienced power failure in Lymington.
The Coastguard alerted the RNLI volunteer crew just after midday. The Allweather Lifeboat was at the scene at 12.22pm to assist the stricken craft which had suffered a complete failure of its electrical control unit.
The trimaran was anchored securely but in danger of running aground with the ebbing tide. The lifeboat crew cut the anchor line before marking it with a buoy and then towed the trimaran into Lymington harbour.
With a length of 88ft and a weight of 105 tonnes, the vessel is believed to be the largest and heaviest ever assisted by the Yarmouth RNLI.
