The Coastguard are trying to determine whether somebody might be injured or in difficulty after a red, blue and white part of a sailing yacht turned up on Redcar Beach over the weekend.

Hartlepool and Skinningrove Coastguard Rescue Teams have been searching the area and have confirmed that the wreckage is of a Oday 22 sailing yacht with a stern marked Hartlepool.

A spokeswoman said: “We have had a few members of the public contact us, but so far none have led us to any conclusions.”

No Mayday call was received by the Coastguard and nobody was reported missing or in trouble.
