A dad and his 11 year old daughter were saved after being swept out into the sea

The pair had been shouting for help for 45 minutes before HM coastguards were alerted and sent two Whitby’s RNLI inshore and all-weather lifeboats to their rescue.

The 11-year-old girl had been swept into the sea off the Yorkshire coast in Robin Hood’s Bay and her father had gone out to help her. They had got stuck at the back of breaking surf, were struggling and barely keeping their heads above water when the RNLI boats came to their rescue.

Father and daughter were given warm blankets and checked by the crew before being taken to hospital where they were treated for hypothermia and fatigue.
