While on route to the scene, the three crew on board the sinking speed boat were rescued by RNLI lifeguards and taken ashore.

After checking that those who had been aboard were okay, the lifeboat proceeded to secure the 16ft Fletcher as it was still afloat and a hazard to navigation.

The stricken vessel was then brought ashore west of Boscombe pier after volunteers sought permission from the local council. Slipway access is located nearby, with the intention that the boat will be recovered at a later date.
