Ben Ainslie Racing has partnered with renewables investor Low Carbon
The Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR) HQ in Portsmouth is to be powered by solar energy following a partnership with renewables investor Low Carbon.
An announcement regarding the long-term partnership with the company was made earlier this week and will provide the team with clean energy as it develops its 2017 America’s Cup bid.
The team’s HQ, currently under construction at the Camber Docks in Portsmouth, will be powered
by the latest, high efficiency solar photovoltaic technology.
Ainslie said: “We’re delighted to be on board with Low Carbon, and this new partnership takes us a long way towards our goal of sustainable clean energy for our new base.”
Initial targets aim to supply 90% of the team’s electricity power via renewable energy, later increasing to 100% once energy monitoring is in place.
The partnership will support BAR’s efforts to run a sustainable business with clean energy and will also see the team’s HQ accorded BREEAM ‘Excellent’ status – the hallmark of excellence in sustainable building.

Ainslie’s America’s Cup base is due to be completed this summer.
