Rescue crews discovered the overturned yacht broken up on rocks.

The bodies of an Irish woman and a Scottish man have been recovered after a yacht accident off the coast of South Africa.

South African police, EMS, NSRI rescue and dive units were among the emergency services who responded Monday (1 February) to reports of a yacht that had capsized off of South Africa’s Western Cape.

When crews arrived on the scene, they discovered a yacht, Tara, broken up amongst rocks on the shore.

Scottish man Irish woman die in yacht accident

The bodies of a 61-year-old Scottish man and a 49-year-old Irish woman were recovered from the scene.

A 66-year-old Irishman was the sole survivor from the three crew members on board the craft when it capsized. He managed to swim to shore safely and raise the alarm.

A police investigation has been opened into the incident.

It is not known whether the yacht capsized before running aground or what caused the yacht to run aground.
