The RNLI launched a rescue operation when a new sailor ran into trouble in his freshly purchased yacht.
Two lifeboats and a volunteer RNLI crew headed out from Minehead when the inexperienced sailor ran aground at Dunster beach, Somerset, after running into trouble with his rigging.
The man had been heading for Watchet marina, West Somerset, and had set out from Cardiff with three other vessels.
Lifeboat helmsman Andrew Escott told Western Morning News: “All we could really do was help him sort out his sails and put a couple of anchors out so he would float off safely when the tide came back in and then return to station.”
The lifeboat, an Atlantic 85, headed out again later that evening to escort the yacht to its intended destination.
