The marina, said to be costing £1.2m, will be the new home of the Port Edgar Yacht Club.

Inspired by the Fish Market building in Bergen, Norway, the Port Edgar Marina will be designed by GLM architects and will be built on the Port Edgar Pier site, by the Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing in Queensferry South, near Edinburgh.

It will boats views across the water, a restaurant, shops, water sports facilities, a visitor centre hundreds of berths and will also be the home of the Port Edgar Yacht Club.

“The design is very much driven by the site and by research into harbour front pavilions worldwide such as the new Fish Market building in Bergen”, explained GLM associate director Neil McAllister. “The main element is a curved block with mono-pitched roof and floor-to-ceiling glazing to give panoramic views from the restaurant and yacht club across the Forth and the gallery of bridges old and new.”, continued McAllister.

“The project is part of a significant investment into the site that GLM are working on behalf of Port Edgar Marina to diversify the business on site and secure the long term viability of the marina for water sports enthusiasts and the general public alike. “This will include refurbishment of existing buildings to increase the retail offering on site.”

The project is thought to be costing £1.2m and has been welcomed by local Conservative councillor Lindsay Paterson.

Port Edgar is currently used by the eponymous yacht club, a sailing club and sea cadets and has 300 berths.
