Passengers on board the Rosslare-Fishguard Stena Line ferry service have spent a night stranded in the Irish Sea after bad weather prevented the vessel from docking.
The Stena Line ferry between Rosslare in Ireland and Fishguard in Pembrokeshire is now making its way to the Welsh port after being stranded overnight due to bad weather.
The Stena Europe ferry was unable to dock on Monday due to adverse weather in the wake of Storm Angus.
The 87 passengers and 59 crew spent the night at sea.
Speaking to BBC Radio Wales’ Good Morning Wales, a spokesman for Stena Line, Diane Poole said the ferry is expected to arrive in Fishguard by around 10am.
A decision will then be made by the ship’s captain whether it is safe to dock. It is hoped the vessel will be docked by noon.
Poole said the passengers were in “good form” despite their night at sea.
“The ship was well sheltered, they had a comfortable evening and they were well looked after, and they are in very good form this morning,” she said.
The Stena Europe is reported to have left Rosslare just before 0900 on 21 November, 2016.
It attempted to berth at Fishguard at around 15.30 but the bad weather meant the manoeuvre had to be abandoned because of health and safety concerns.
After failing to dock at Fishguard, the vessel spent the night in the sheltered waters of Cardigan Bay.
