The Met Office has issued a large number of
flood warnings and alerts for the South of England and Wales as temperatures
drop to within a few degrees of freezing.
With 46 flood alerts and 12 more serious
flood warnings in the Anglian area, the Met office is cautioning the public to be prepared
for flooding and to take immediate action.
On Sunday, the river Ravensbourne in
Lewisham burst its banks in south-east London, causing roads to shut and
affecting around 1,800 square metres.
Kent_999s said on Twitter: “There’s
flooding in Lewisham after the Ravensbourne River burst its banks. Some people
being evacuated.”
Meanwhile other areas of the country
experienced thunder and lightening in addition to the heavy downpours.
MeteoGroup forecaster Nick Prebble, told
the metro: “In the 12-hour period from 6am to 6pm (Sunday), the highest
rainfall was at Bury St Edmonds in Suffolk, where there was 25mm, which is
almost an inch.”
