Seven people were rescued from the Solent after their yacht collided with a boat near Bramble Bank
Crews from Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (Gafirs) and Cowes RNLI Lifeboats raced to the scene after all seven – five men and two women – were knocked into the water by the collision.
Although the Solent collision between the Cowes-based Corby 36 yacht, Ino, and the yacht Valkyrie caused the Ino to sink quickly, all crew members were already wearing life jackets.

Gafirs senior coxswain Chris Rudd told the Portsmouth News that without the life jackets the situation could have been much worse and credit the professionalism of the crew and the mayday.
“The lady who put out the mayday was very good, they did all the right things,” he said.
