The 99m superyacht Christina O, previously owned by Aristotle Onassis, is being sold for €25m

The 99m vessel shot to fame in the 1950s when she played host to a wealth of celebrities including Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and John Wayne. Even Winston Churchill was invited on board.

Christina O was also the setting for the wedding reception when Onassis married Jackie Kennedy in 1968. She was built as a World War II surplus Canadian frigate in 1943 and was bought by Onassis in 1954 when he paid scrap value ($34,000) for her.

When the shipping tycoon died, the iconic superyacht was passed down to his daughter Christina, who bequeathed the vessel to the Greek government as a presidential yacht.

In 1999 Christina O was rescued by family friend John Paul Papanicolaou, who restored her. She is one of the few ex-private yachts capable of international cruising with up to 36 passengers.

Christina O recently came fourth in SuperYacht World’s poll of the Top 50 Finest Superyachts in the World. She’s being sold by Edmiston.
