First, there was a yacht design inspired by a sports car, now there is a sports car designed specifically for a yacht.

Liverpool-based Briggs Automotive Company and its co-founder Ian Briggs, who got his start designing luxury yachts, are set to produce a car that is optimised for the super rich, superyachts-owning crowd.

The one-seater Mono Marine can reach 60 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds, and is fully customisable for owners who prefer to spend their time at sea. The car has been marinised with a rust resistant finish and added protection for its electronics against corrosive salty sea air. Lifting points on its chassis also allow it to be hoisted onto the deck with the included carbon-fiber davit arm, and a climate-controlled container is provided to store the car whilst it’s on board.

BAC Mono Marine Edition

BAC co-founder Ian Briggs who created the design for the Mono Marine Edition, said “I started my career designing luxury yachts and I have wanted to combine my love of marine and automotive design ever since.”

“Everything that makes [the car] a good driver’s car makes it suitable to be the ultimate luxury automotive toy for a yacht,” Briggs said.

The cars are priced at £500,000 and offer a 305-horsepower engine and Formula 1-style suspension. Their 580 kilogramme weight makes them yacht-friendly.

Briggs provided one possible scenario for the super rich yacht owner: “You could unload a couple of Marine Monos. You and your pal go for a blast around the Monte Carlo rally stages and head all the way up into the mountains.”

The supercars are built to order, and BAC’s dedicated factory in Liverpool produces four per month.
