If you find yourself with time at your disposal between Key West Race Week and the Caribbean racing season, this could be the event for you.

The Conch Republic Cup returns this year after 16 years in exile.

The race was begun in 1997 as a way of establishing harmonious relations between American and Cuban sailors.

It was sadly brought to a close in 2003 when the US clamped down on boat travel to Cuba, but now it’s back!

The race runs across the Gulf Stream to Cuba and is positioned in January to attract racers with ‘downtime’ between Key West Race Week and the Caribbean racing season.

Festivities begin on January 27 with a welcome reception in the Key West, and finish with the awarding of the Conch Republic Cup to the overall winner at a ceremony back in Key West on February 6.

Entry applications have to be received by October 2015. Further details can be found on the Conch Republic Cup website.
