Rescue crews from the RNLI and Royal Navy have been drafted in to help with the coastal search

While searching for the missing boat, debris was found approximately five miles south west Rame Head, Plymouth.

It has now been confirmed that the debris is from the missing scalloper fishing vessel JMT.

RNLI lifeboats from Looe, Fowey and Plymouth are continuing the search for the two crewmen, along with the Royal Navy search and rescue helicopter based at Culdrose.

A coastal search is underway for a missing fishing vessel after it failed to return home on Thursday evening.

It’s believed there were two people on board the boat when it set off from Plymouth, with the alarm being raised at 8.40pm that evening.

The father of one of the fisherman contacted the coastguard concerned for his son’s safety, reporting that they were overdue.

An extensive search has been carried out, with debris from a vessel being found just before 10am on Friday morning.

A search of the area continues with RNLI lifeboats from Fowey, Looe and Plymouth all involved.

The Royal Navy search and rescue helicopter from Culdrose is also searching, along with other vessels in the area.
