Foreman was the first female finisher and first British finisher in her class.
Lizzy Foreman, the 25-year-old British solo offshore sailor, was the first woman across the finish line in the Mini Transat Îles de Guadeloupe 2015 race, which runs from France to Guadeloupe in the Caribbean.
Foreman’s 6.5m Hudson Wight was the 32nd boat to finish the race, and she was the first British sailor in the Series class to finish.
It took Foreman nine days and 13 hours sail the 1,250 nautical miles from France to Lanzarote on the race’s first leg and 19 days to cover 2,770 nautical miles and reach Guadeloupe in her 10-year old Series Mini yacht.
A spokesperson for Foreman’s main sponsor congratulated her on the achievement: “We are all so proud of Lizzy and her achievements throughout this race and congratulate her on this amazing accomplishment. We wish her and her family a wonderful reunion and send our very best wishes.”
