The Llandudno Coastguard Team says the man was "inadequately prepared" and "ignored advice" not to go out to sea at Colwyn Bay, North Wales.
A man, who “ignored advice” not to go out to sea, sparked a multi-agency rescue operation after his boat broke down.
Members of the Llandudno Coastguard Team were contacted just after 3pm on 7 May, following reports that a vessel was in difficulty at Colwyn Bay, North Wales.
Coastguard volunteers located the boat around 300 metres from the shore and kept observations while the Llandudno Lifeboat Crew made their way to the scene.
Meanwhile, one of the safety boats from Colwyn Bay Watersports arrived and established a tow. The lifeboat crew gave permission for the safety boat to tow the broken down vessel back to Porth Eirias.
Members of the coastguard team met the owner. After finding out that he had ignored safety advice not to go out to sea, the coastguard urged him to complete a powerboat safety course.
A spokesman for the Llandudno Coastguard Team said: “We made our way to Porth Eirias and met the owner on the beach. We discovered that the owner was inadequately prepared for a day on the water and had ignored advice given this morning not to go to sea,”
“We gave him extensive safety advice and directed him to Colwyn Bay Watersports to receive some powerboat training before attempting to go to sea again,” the spokesman concluded.
