A total of eight people were arrested in the Kent area as part of the investigation into suspected firearms importation

Officers in Kent have arrested four people at Cuxton Marina as part of an investigation into suspected firearms importation.

Officers from the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Kent Police said they detained three men and a woman at the marina along the River Medway on Tuesday, after surrounding two small houseboats and a cabin cruiser.

A further four men were arrested at two locations in Kent, three in Orpington and one at an address in Swanley.

The eight, aged between 24 and 58, continue to be questioned by NCA investigators.

An NCA spokesperson said: “A number of potentially viable firearms and ammunition were seized near the marina. They are now being tested forensically.”

It’s been reported that one of the boats involved was towed away as part of the investigation, while evidence was removed in plastic bags from the two remaining vessels.
