It’s all in a name! Top 10 boat names for 2016 released

Buying a new boat and stuck for a name? The Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) has just released the top boat names for 2016.

For more than a decade, the Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) has released the top ten most popular boat names each year.

It now has a list of more than 9,000 names to help boat owners arrive at the perfect one..whether they have a yacht or a fishing boat.

Here’s the organisation’s list for 2016:

  1. Happy Ours
  2. Freedom
  3. Grace
  4. Serendipity
  5. Island Time
  6. No Regrets
  7. Liberty
  8. At Last
  9. Blue Moon
  10. Aquaholic

This is the first year that Happy Ours has topped the list, knocking off Serenity from the top spot.

Serenity seems to be one of the most popular names in the USA. It came top seven times between 1993 and 2015.

Second placed Freedom has made it into the top 10 before in 2004, 2005 and 2014.

For the first time, Grace, No Regrets, At Last and Blue Moon have made it into the top 10.

Aquaholic is also immensely popular, featuring consistently between 2003-2009, 2011 and 2013-2015.

Other popular boat names over the years have included Seas the Day, Obsession, The Black Pearl and Second Wind.

The Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) was founded in 1966.

It is America’s largest organisation of recreational boat owners.
